Mason Building - Drywall

Almost 20 years ago, Mason Building Group began as a small commercial drywall company that has grown into a multi-disciplined contracting firm. While we focus primarily on the interiors package, we also have the ability to service projects from the ground up. General trades, demolition, sitework and concrete are additional services that Mason offers through personnel trained and experienced in these fields of expertise. Servicing Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey, the company is based in Newark, Delaware. Our 4-pronged approach of competitive pricing, quality workmanship, employee safety and superior service has contributed to our longevity and to our reputation for excellence and fairness. Mason Building Group’s success truly is attributable to the employees both in the field and in the office and is demonstrated through the recognitions we have received for our work.

In 1991, R. Scott Mason and Rita E. Thomas established Mason Building Group, Inc., with the goal of building a firm that would be known for its responsiveness to customer needs. The company obtained a few projects but really hit our stride with the building stabilization package subsequent to the Meridian Plaza fire in Center City Philadelphia. Mason was hired to secure the building to provide safety and protection on both the inside and the outside of the building up to the point when the 38-story building was dismantled. Incidentally, that dismantlement project was completed by a joint venture led by Mason Building Group, Inc.

After the Meridian project in 1991, Mason Building Group was the successful bidder to Turner Construction Company for the drywall and general trade packages at the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia, Merck Pharmaceuticals and Woodhaven Shopping Center. Following those successes, Mason Building Group grew from our original 4 person cast to a thirty-plus million dollar company that employs 18 office personnel and over one hundred fifty union employees. Recently, we have completed projects such as Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The Hill at Whitemarsh in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, and Milford Transfer Station in Kent County, Delaware. We have worked for owners as diverse as MBNA, Dover Downs, New Castle County, State of Delaware, HUP and CHOP (Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania), and Greater Philadelphia International Airport, to mention only a few.
